Border Patrol agents from the Big Bend Sector's Marfa Station discovered over $1 million worth of marijuana this weekend hidden in a stock trailer full of goats.

The seizure occurred Saturday at the Border Patrol's Highway 67 Checkpoint.

A news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that around 2 p.m., a man from Dumas entered the checkpoint driving a pickup truck pulling a stock trailer loaded with 18 goats.

The man was unable to answer routine questions about ownership of the trailer. That's when agents investigated the trailer and found 1,265 packages of marijuana hidden in the floor of the trailer.

The agents were also able to confirm the presence of narcotics using a Border Patrol K-9.

The packages of marijuana weighed more than 1,350 pounds.

The man, along with the drugs and the truck and trailer, were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The goats were turned over to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
