Thurston Prosecutor Agrees to Medical Marijuana

A medical marijuana patient who was arrested in Lacey for drug possession will be able to smoke marijuana as he completes a two-year diversion program to dismiss the charge.

The Olympian reports 33-year-old Julian Harris reached an agreement Monday with Thurston County prosecutors who say the deal will protect the public by preventing him from providing marijuana to other patients.

Harris was arrested in September 2007 during a traffic stop when an officer found about an ounce of marijuana in plain view in his car.

Harris has a letter from a doctor permitting him to use the drug to control back pain. Harris told the officer he provided the drug to other patients, which was illegal.
