Tucson City Council has adopted major changes in the way medical marijuana is grown and distributed.

The members approved increasing the size of indoor cultivation sites during the city council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 5. The city council increased the permitted size to 4,000 square feet. The previous regulation was 3,000 square feet.

They also approved allowing medical marijuana to be grown outdoors.

The council members signed off on dispensaries being closer to schools, churches and park in certain situations.

The only proposal that was not adopted was placing a cap on the number of dispensaries.
