In the General Assembly, the Senate passed a bill that would allow the production of medical marijuana oil in Virginia.

Last year, Governor Terry McAuliffe signed a bill allowing oil from marijuana to be prescribed to patients suffering from epilepsy and other debilitating ailments. However, that law did not provide a way for them to get the oil without breaking federal and state laws. Parents of those patients have been rallying in support of this new bill, hoping to get the oils without fear of prosecution.

Opponents say they have concerns about the bill and believe any medication should have to go through the FDA approval process. The bill how heads to the House of Delegates for a vote.
