Whats wrong with my hps light?

ok heres the deal i got my hps out and was messing woth it today and it was ACTING REALLY WIERD.i know they glow white then warm up ang glow yellow well its warming up and turning yellow and lights for 20/30min then goes almost all the way out just to where u can see some light in the bulb??why? is this a faulty bulb or is my other stuff going bad? when the light dims i can see it almost like a lighting bult in side the bulb moving slow and glowing faintly then it just fires back up?

I suppose you dont' have other equipment to do a little troubleshooting with? light bulbs can do that in general w/a power problem.

like what kind of equipment?
the light runs and goes threw cycles its really strange i do know the hole set up is very old

the bulb is 22 years old lmfao

was an outdoor light i took down and put in a bigger reflector

Buy a new bulb and see if that helps.

I like to keep at least one spare bulb around,
just to troubleshoot with.

You should replace your bulbs at least once a year *if using all year* as their lumen output decreases with use. An yes always good to have backups on site in case something fails mid grow. That would be a huge waste of time if your crop dies waiting on spare parts.
