why is one plant shorter than the rest

Hi, My name is Evan and its my first time growing and i have 5 plant growing and 1 of the them is like 18 inches shorter than the rest and i have in growing it the same as all the rest. can anyone tell me why that would happen

Maybe it's just a runt or it's the only female(females grow shorter than males).

I have had the same thing happen several times and I think it is just like people some are shorter by genetics than others. I wouldn't worry about it. I have harvested just as much from the runt as the tall girls.......
