MADISON: It was definitely a very different mood at the 2011 State of the State Address at the Wisconsin State Capitol than at last year's address.
For one, it was newly elected Gov. Scott Walker giving the speech, not former Gov. Doyle Jim Doyle.
Last year, with Doyle supporting medical cannabis legislation sponsored by Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison) and Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Waunakee), there was hope Wisconsin might soon join the other then-14, now 15 medical marijuana states.
Instead, not only did the bill fail to pass, Democrats then lost both houses and the governorship in the Nov. 2010 elections. Ironically, the same election saw voters of all stripes in Dane County and River Falls vote overwhelmingly in support of medical cannabis advisory referendums urging state lawmakers to pass legislation.

When asked urged to support medical cannabis as he passed by after his speech, Gov. Walker had no response.
