You Tell Us: Questioning The Medical Marijuana Crackdown In California

In early April, the Drug Enforcement Agency and Internal Revenue Service raided Oaksterdam, a medical marijuana trade school in Oakland, California.

The DEA said the raid was part of an ongoing criminal investigation. According to San Francisco DEA spokeswoman Jocelyn Barnes, the reason for the raid was "[m]arijuana continues to be a federally controlled substance, despite the fact that California voted to make medical marijuana legal."

The raid on Oaksterdam is part of the federal government's larger effort to shut down California's burgeoning medical marijuana industry, which experts estimate is worth $1.7 billion annually.

As part of this multi-agency crackdown, the DEA is raiding medical marijuana providers who are fully compliant with state and local law.

In addition, the IRS is taxing providers to death by auditing them at an unprecedented rate, as well as enforcing an arcane tax policy the federal authorities claim prohibits providers from claiming standard business deductions available to all other businesses.

Even the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives has weighed in on the issue, prohibiting gun dealers from selling firearms to medical marijuana patients who have registered their qualified patient status with the state.

Indeed, the mere spectre of federal enforcement has had a tremendous impact on stifling the industry. Landlords and banks have abandoned their relationships with medical marijuana providers.

Local governments, including historically pro-marijuana Mendocino County, have ended their long-standing permit programs.

Even the City of Oakland, one of the municipalities which pioneered the idea of regulating medical marijuana, has slowed down its plan to issue permits for industrial sized marijuana grows due to threats of prosecution from United States Attorney Melinda Haag.

The federal government does not give a sh@t about state rights

Yep, not only that, they could care less about humanity as a whole...ALL They see is dollars and cents and a bunch of numbers pouring their hard earned money into the machine!

One wonders when they will start branding our forearms with serial numbers and taking patents out on our very souls?

What's apparent to me, is how very important it is to keep the pressure on our elected officials and force them to keep the question open and with fresh debate, all the time with no let up!

We, as a collected force of concerned voters, have got to get more dedicated than ever before in history and keep the pressure on our leaders in a way like they have never seen before! It's the ONLY way!

If you've never contacted your officials, do it now! TODAY! They need to know how disgusted we are of the job they're doing!

These people just keep acting like this is just a sideline issue and that we're not really to be taken seriously? Well I'm here to tell you, there's nothing more serious than children living with strangers, because mommy and daddy are being held in a concentration camp, having to defend them selves from being raped and murdered, or as serious as the millions of people wasting away from starvation, because of the chemo treatments, that have taken their appetites away!?

Meanwhile...This smug, self righteous, arrogant puppet, is sitting there in the oval office, talking about Medical Cannabis like it's not even something worth addressing, while the majority of the population in this country is screaming at him, wanting real answers!...Well?...We're Waiting "Mr. Obama"!?

Capitalism is killing the cannabis network just like it kills everything else. We don't need government regulation we need complete deregulation. Its just a plant, thats all it is. SHouldn't be regulated any more than tomato plants are.
