HPS help etc

Hi all new to growing but have a quick question about my hps set up
I'm currently running
600w balis with a 600w bulb in
My question is can I put a 400w bulb in my 600w balis my balis is a big old one I got given no ajustble bits on it just 2 cable one to the plug then a cable to the light
Really just want to know would it just pop if I put a 400w bulb in or is the balis max 600w and can run less bulbs

I'd say itd blow mate with no adjustable parts you can order one for around £60 off amazon that will have the same connectors Im pretty sure you can grow with hps all they way thru without metal halide if that's the 400w bulb your on about, my advice is run the 600 and buy a newer ballast or take one for the team and try it out just turn it on after you screw it in ..
