Is it just me, or does that look like a big black-and-green pineapple? Maybe it's just the weed talking...

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

First off Welcome to the fams. I'm glad you made the choice to come here. A.N has gottin a bad wrap for its customer service latelt, for this reason I'm am extra happy that you said what you said. From a person who has done customer service for years, I hate seeing companies get bad service reviews. I'm sure you'll get plenty of messages about using A.N. So once again I say Welcome and thank you for posting! :ganjamon:
Thanks Butcher for the welcome and I'll try to contribute to the community as much as possible since I have xtra time on my hands right now before the outdoor season =)

I've got a question for you: What other nutrient brand(s), if any, have you tried that led you to believe that AN are the best for us? And in which ways have you found the AN line to be better in regards to them?

Actually, I'd like to hear from others that have tried multiple nutrient lines (and hopefully dialed each one in before giving up on it) before settling on one. too. A lot of folks seem to pick a brand - for whatever reason - and grow a crop. Many of them continue to use it because they are happy. But I wonder how much of that is the happiness that we all felt when we harvested our very first crop and "felt the power."

IOW, a man (or woman) that has never tasted meat might try a hot dog for the first time and think it's the best thing going. But it turns out that a nice steak braised in wine is good too, lol.

[Hey, Butcher: I hope that this post (and any replies it might receive) fits in with the spirit of this thread. If not, PM me and I'll ask a moderator to delete it.]

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

I was just offering to field questions for AN enthusiasts not trying to convert anyone So I guess I should have been more specific. If you do not have any interest in AN thats fine but I have ran many nutes and I dont simply advocate the use of only AN products many companies have great products as well but I am sorry I am not at the point of wishing to devote hours of time to try to convert someone to AN that is obviously not a person that is an enthusiast of AN. I was just trying to offer to answer applicable questions not abstract ones or what could be considered retorical or arbitrary. So if you have applicable questions to current grows or possible futures ones reguarding AN feel free to let me know. And thanks again The Butcher for the warm welcome. :peace:

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

I fear you may have taken my words wrongly. I was not belittling your brand of choice. Although I don't have personal experience with them, I know many have and have had good results. And I would like to learn more about them and many other brands.

I would not expect you to devote hours of your time trying to convert someone. That seems kind of fanatical, lol.

I was just hoping to see more comparitive answers in this thread. Such as, "I tried Acme, Widget, and Frobozz brands of nutrients/additives, and I discovered that Frobozz worked best for me because..."

I would try every brand I could get my hands on but I'm woefully-deficient in the gold and platinum mines department (lol) and realize that it takes multiple grows with each strain and several strains to truly get to know a brand. Therefore I attempt to learn from others whenever possible. I'm sure that I'll be able to learn much from you.

No hard feelings, I hope.

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

It's really my fault. I ordinarily use linux and stay the <BLEEP> out of MS Windows like everyone with a pulse should, but the GF was here playing and when I went to surf it was already sitting in the desktop (doing nothing... but with high levels of disk activity and elevated CPU temps as per Windows norm. Fook You, Bad Billy Gates) so I just used that OS. That'll teach me.

Uh, my apologies The Butcher, for interrupting a fine thread. It has been an interesting read for me.

It's always a good idea to cherchez la femme any time something goes wrong with Windows.

These are the 2 best examples of why this thread was started. Not only to get info on nute lines, but to be able to respond to each others thoughts and clearify them if needed, being done in a reasonable way. So +rep to you both. Cafghanica & Tourtured Soul Thank you being able to handle things in the manner you both do and did. both of your actions is very commendable. Debating is good, agreeing to disagee is good as well, but when things are clearified and all is said as well as you 2 did, THAT WHAT MAKE THE SITE MORE PEACEFUL AND THAT MUCH BETTER. So once again I say thank you to you both.

(Tortured Soul: I owe you a +rep, gotta wait a bit before I can rep you again:rofl:)

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

I use FF, but I *do not* use the Grow Big liquid. I stick to the Big Bloom (throughout the entire cycle) and of course Tiger Bloom.

The salt concentrates are expensive but they last forever, each jar is a pound and you use 1/4 of a teaspoon or so per gallon. For soil, that means a single jar will last for years, probably so long the active ingredients will start to decay before you use all of it...

For hydro I'm sure you will use a fair bit more, but still the costs are pretty low considering the extra growth you'll see...

I tried to email AN two days ago for a soil feeding schedule for their nutes.

No response so far.

Ya.

If I don't hear back, I'm pretty much not going to be interested in buying their products no matter how good they are.

Anyway, FF is winning in the poll so far, no suprise there, but I am interested to see that AN is second so far... :peace:

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

Windows Straight up sucks. I do use it but I plan on installing ubuntu and learning more about linux since they are more on the safe side. But i rebuild my computers about every three months.

Many people seems pleased with FF which is what i might end up using with the big bud the FPF uses. I want some of them sexy crystals on my smoke :)

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

Dacob:
First off welcome to 420. Hope you get all that you want you out of the site along with all of the members here. Couldnt be more true those concentrates last forever. That is the befit of it actually being a concentrates, they are made to last not forever but for an extensive period of time. AN has gottin a bad wrap for its cutomer sevice, but literally yesterday a new member (Cafghanica) posted this:

Anyone with any questions about AN products or selecting the right AN products for your type of grow feel free to hit me up. I am a lil new to this forum but have years of exp with AN and love the products. Also just call AN tech support if you have questions or concerns ask for Terri for product questions and ask for Roy for plant questions and concerns the guy loves his job and will do anything to help you figure out whats going on in your garden......:rollit:

So hopefully maybe Cafghanica or A.N tech support can help guide you or just simply answer your questions concerning the line.

Unfortunetly non of my Emails to A.N has gottin answered as well. This is where I HAVE to voice my concern reguarding the line. A.N may have great products but without customer contact, what good is it to just put the product on the shelf and not get any REAL feedback. Not all people have the time to sit on the phone. Thus the need for prompt answering of emails if possible. I will call into AN myself and voice these concerns over the phone. I have no issues doing so. I say these things, not to get down on AN, but to hopefully better their customer service. And People best believe if I dont get the proper customer service, there will be a review right here of their overall performance. And hey if they fix the email issues that have been their weaklink, then I will post that as well. In no way do I mean to badmouth them. I just want the best customer service provided for our readers and growers. Along with anyone who just has a simple question and wants to email rather then have to talk to a customer rep. I'll be calling them later this afternoon. So keep an eye out later today to see what happens.

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

Cafghanica, thanks for your offer to help out with AN. I am behind them cause they have the balls to stand up and say what is right about the growing of herbal medicine. I think that beginners should try something easy for their first few grows. The list looks long on the products that you need to grow from the chart that you provided a link to. Lots of folks on 420 are just getting by in this down economy. Some have money and can spend it, others can't, and some make do with what they have. Look at the LabRat, he can s%it in it, fall back into it, and still come out smelling like a rose. He is one dude that can make do with what he has and still make a good crop.

Yeah they are very open about what there nutes are formulated for look at Kushie Kush lol. Their Heavy Harvest stuff is amazing for GG's outdoors. Also a little known fact is that AN has only the worlds second lincense issued to a company by a goverment to grow, in Bulgaria. So all there nutes are tested legally and specifically for weed in Bulgaria, basically Big Mike opened the old check book years ago to make sure he could legally test his nutes on marijuana without federal indictment etc. I also believe that these are tight times and if you think the AN line up is out because of the check book then there are plenty of ways to get around it. I also recommend running a bio reactor for Taratula,Pirhana, and VoodooJuice to save money on application rates works wonders. If ya have any questions about setting one up let me know.

Re: A poll to see what kind of nutes are prefered.

Trust me there are plenty of us who need to know those in and outs about the line. Feel free to post them here. Let us all know. Weither or not people use the line, its good to know there are in and outs so if any of us chose to switch over we have some idea of how the line works. THANX in advance...

He Butcher I will get something comprehensive together and post it in the next couple of days, but there is abit of a catch 22 to when dealing with explaining AN products to people sometimes do to the fact that there labels are cryptic to keep there proprietary secrets a secret. I have had the good fortune to speak to Big Mike on a couple of occasions giving input on ways I would like to see the calculator updated etc and he has told me a few of these insider sort of things but I just hate the idea of possibly misquoting him but I will try to pass it all along as well as some people dont understand the extraction/fractionation process to extract natural hormones from kelp etc and use those to help marijuana respond as we would like more. So to many the word hormone may seem like a dirty word but I will explain that worry away with the rest of the info I post as soon as I get it together in an intelligent way. =) Thanks again

Also you can check out Eric Biksa there grow guy/product specialist videos at this link which can really answer almost any question about how a single product works if you find the right video.

Hey Butcher, thank you for the welcome! I thought I'd be the one asking questions here, but it seems I'm the one answering them too, which is fine... It's just such a pleasure to find a group of like-minded, well-informed and intelligent people -- geographically disparate or not.

Ya, I've been working hard on a new water/nute regimen with these darn LEDs, my ladies are not thirsty anymore, which really messes with the schedule. But ya, I always laugh when I measure out an 1/8 of a teaspoon at a time... it just does not seem like enough, but I know it is.

I, too, am not happy having my email ignored. Yes, calling is great and I go indeed appreciate having educated and professional folks on the other end of the line, that's great. Buy why can't that support be extended to emails? One would think it would be easier to write a quick response, or direct the questioner to call directly for answers that are too lenghty to summarize in a quick email. But, that's just me. On the other hand, I've never emailed or called FF and I probably never will, I understand their products as they are simple... but simple is not necessilary good.

Regardless, at the prices they are asking for kushie kush for example, I would expect top-tier customer service -- after all, what else is all my money going to??

OK, yes thank you I'd already found that scheduler program on their site, but it keeps asking for the res size, so I figured it was only for hydro systems -- no?

Also, on the 100% organic option there are 9 separate nute formulas. That's a lot -- is there any info on which of those I might be able to exclude, or are all 9 products absolutely essential?

And thank you for the info on which reps to talk to -- that's invaluable, it's always so nice to talk to someone who is professional and actually wants to help -- it's getting to be a rare thing these days, sadly...

I'm scared to call though, if I do I'll probably end up yacking for hours, and they'll get no work done... might not be a good thing.

If you really do have the ability to bend the ear of the owner, what would be great would be an email address that is only for serious questions, so that the recipients at AN would know they will not be wasting time sifting through tons of irrelevant questions... that would be very helpful. I don't need an instant answer to an email -- if was an emergency, I'm sure I'd call. But a 48 hour turn around would be nice, if that is possible.

Even a simple email that say "Sorry, your question is too deep to be answered in an email, please call us at 800-whatever."

Shoot, even if all unanswered emails, after 72 hours for example, were to get that automatic response, even that... is better than nothing.

Just an idea... thanks Cafghanica!! :thanks:
