CFL's Lumens or temperatures?

Take a look at the link in my signature. It will help answer a lot of the questions you will soon be asking. Short answer, the Color temperature depends on the stage of growth. Lumen is a measurement of brightness to the human eye.

For vegitive growth you mainly want the blue spectrum of light...
Most good growing cfls for veg will be around 6400/6500k however 6000k will do just fine
Some may prefer a blend of light spectrum such as 2x6400k 1x 2700k for vegging with.
In flowering 2700k is best
Once again some may blend the lighting 2x2700 1x6400 for flowering... the more lighting in flowering is best when using cfls tho !
