Hello everyone! I'm the doctor, I have a grow in progress right now, I have 4 nice blooming plants, the grow started on 10/5/09 and are in the 4th week of flowering and the colas are developing nicely, I'll have tro go through my notes to bring this journal up to speed, I do have a second grow going and in 12/12 that just started the other day also.

The bloom room is located deep in the bowls of the tardis my home.

The is my baby she is a beauty! her strain is white rhino and indica strain so the flower time is around 8 to 9 weeks, she is in her on her 4th week in to bloom, she has many branches as you can see and looks to produce nicely. I can't let her go so she has 5 clones of her.

She is in a signal bubble bucket system and under 1 of 2 400wtt hps lights, but both lighting systems cast enough light for both plant system, but there also is a 150wtt hps sun system throughing light up under the branches, works fine as I turn the systems plants and all twice a day.

The bloom room is a 72" x 72" x 72" grow tent, funny same size as the tardis! any way it's a simple basic Self contained environment! there is an a/c unit 6000 btu’s cooling and keeping the temps in check! and kept any where between 65 degrees to 72 degrees depending on time of day or night and depending on weather conditions! the humidity is kept around the 45’s during flowering , circulating air are 3 fans and 1 vent fan pushing fresh air into the tent directly from the outside and 3 venting fan pulling air out.

I have a second in a 72"h x 36"w x 18"d fully thinsulated cabinet with vent in and outs in it now are 2 of the white rhino clone strain and after the clones showed roots. they were put in a bp system under 2 300wtt equiv/68 cfl's at 2700k for now, are in 12/12 after 3 1/2 week in the tank, the 150wtt light will be moved and put over them soon to help growth.

I like and use Flora Nova nutrients and they can be a bit messy if not carefull so I don't med up before I handle that first, why do I use FN? as I have been going along using them! I have had no problems with ph, the stuff mixes out at about 6.2 ph with the water we have here in my area so no ph up or down is need most the time, ppm seems to work out fine to! right now the water with nutes is about 1890 ppm something around there, if things look hinky with the plants after, I hit them with plan ph'ed water the next day when they need their feeding but their big girls and have been taking full nutes for quite a while now.

Don't let the light through you! the one light is a MH bulb and has been changed back to a hps bulb, the other one came in non operational condition and the dot com that I purchased it from is sending a new replacement bulb and are taking it further they are sending 2 400wtt hps bulb's right! and were going to call back to get my address but didn't, but later on did, they were going to get one of their local suppliers get them to me before christmes right, but their suppliers were all out, the 2nd message they left was that they are going to fedex a 400wtt hilux gro bulb dual core nice $99 bulb very cool and a spear regular 400wtt hps bulb merry ferigen christmes, they have inexpensive equipment that can get you from point A to point B when starting up.

Thanks much grooster and it's great to meet you friend, yeah it's a work in progress, yes? and the bud pron will be getting real interesting soon and I will be posting pictures of that, the buds are slowly turning to cola's and that is a real trip to watch, these babies should be ready end of Jan or mid Feb, hopefully Jan 2010!

I was real taken with the Deep Water Culture system in how fast the plants grow, 1" or more a day Wow! but I don't like the fact that I have to mess with the plants to change the res water not a big hassle but? I plan on using 2 different system soon Deep Water Culture an aeroponics.

I am looking to do a build, of this new system in the near future

looks to be a bit easier to maintain and the tank can be moved out and cleaned an a res water change with out disturbing the plants. that I like! because once the buds really ripen it's best not to be knocking them aroundand moving and handle them to much.

Oh yes my friend, Spoilers yes! I will be posting spoilers soon enough, I see you use a drip system, what stage are your plants in?

That is a really cool system. Are the pipes going up and over just there for support or?

Yea Doctor, got a pretty simple drip system, I think its good for my first attempt. Keeping it simple and I don't need a lot just enough to keep the meds coming. I still have a lot of stuff to do to complete my setup. I am getting a flower tent next so when I switch over to 12/12 I can control light.

My girls are in third week of veg. I got them as 4" clones. I am hoping my setup can yield about 2oz a plant...What do you think?

They look good how long are you planning to veg them before 12/12.

I have a friend that's growing some AK's haven't had a chance to see them but I here it's a good Med stain, I'll have to try those in the future, I just got in 5 roadrunner fem' 1 LA Women DNA, and 1 Mid N Kush???? not sure what that one is.

I am planning to use the roadrunner strain make a mother and keep her in veg state for cloning. the roadrunner strain is a 65 to 75 day grow from seedling to harvest, but could be longer! I hope for shorter, I am tying to get a cycle going and be havesting plants once a month, I am choosing strains with short veg and flower to harvest cycles as best as possible.

There is a way to tell if their mature enough to send to 12/12 when grown from seedlings, and if their clones you can go into 12/12 within a week if wanted, once in 12/12 you should still get 25% to 50% more growth out of them as they flower/bud look for strains that are short to harvest and grow to a short or mediun height, the longer they veg the taller they will get and longer it will take to get to flower/bud and the more top room you will need, unless you start bending branches, but since your new you go at your own pace as you go on, as we go along we find new info and better way to grow for a speedy grow!

You will find your way, with help and research on your part, always depend more on your own research, there are many who just have opinions! and those who's opinions! also have proven results with their help and your research that will help you end up growing with the best results.

The PVC pipping is a support rack it's a mix of aeropincs and hydro, there is another system that is for cloning! you'll find a lot of growers using them, it's the best and fastest way to have guaranteed females.

I would check the strain first if by seeds, but clones yes faster start to flower just depends on your grow room capacity, my next grow I plan on more plants with central bud with only a few branches, more plants to shorter veg time to flower, I plan to follow a formula that a lot of growers use, this grow formula will get me to a harvesting once a month, gotta always think of the back side also and thats drying and curing.

My current set up will need to be changed to that system first, that's why the stickbud system, 6 in flower, 6 in veg with 6 clones, I my need to redue the number of plants but it the best I found so far for space and accessability and al that, I'll work it out when I get to that point.

Added in a new 400watt hps light so I had to incorerate it to the other one with a DIY cool tube venting system.

Dam thing is! I dropped the glass tube that I pick up today and now need to go get another, good thing their only $8.95.

Daily Maintenance
Check reservoir for water level and pH and adjust and replenish
Look at the water, for algae and trash.

Check Temp around grow area and check Humidity

Check Water Pump and feeder tubes for clogging and not feeding
Check for crimped or folded air tubes

Look under the plant canopy, look into or inside the plant for bugs, larvae, insects, dead leaves (remove the 90% dead ones). Examine the top and bottom leaves.

Look for discoloration, and leaf tip yellowing. It is very normal and natural for bottom leaves to yellow, dry and fall off. Look for leaves curling down (nute burn) and curling up (too much heat)
Check Temp of water in reservoir daily, and weekly look at roots
Hygiene.

Yes, I mean cleanliness. Clean up the area, the lid, the reflective material. Keep the area clean.
Raise bulbs to proper height daily.

Re-arrange bulbs every other day, swapping positions.
Daily properly mist with plain pH water in VEG cycle. Every other day, to 3 days, mist with a foilage spray.

Move the oscillating fan to a different location, if only 3 or 4 inches.

Replenish whatever you are doing to increase the Humidity.
Check your Odor Control.


Topping Off the Tank's Reservoir


Daily Maintenance of the reservoir is mostly keeping the pH at the proper level, and keeping the same level of water in the tank as it is used or evaporates. It is also keeping the nutrient mix or nutrient solution at a proper level, a level that is NOT toxic or too strong.

In the day to day course of maintaining the tank two problems occur. parts per million? Then we discussed RNC, RELATIONSHIP OF NUTRIENT CONCENTRATION.

TDS, Total Dissolved Salts. As the water evaporates or is consumed, the concentration of TDS becomes stronger, to the point of being Toxic. The TDS increase as the amount of water decreases.

This creates the need to replenish the water, to replace the water. As we replace that missing water, we create an IMBALANCE. Hydroponics grown plants eat what they need, as they need it and they leave some nutes to build up and accumulate into a poisonous or toxic level.

This creates the need to daily TOP IT OFF. I have already discussed starting Feedings and Draining and Replinishing in this thread twice. It is simple enough, daily replace what you estimate is gone, consumed, eaten, and absorbed.

But weekly, you need to clear the buffet table and start all over with fresh foods. This gives the plant not only a well balanced buffet table to eat from, but also supplies it with FRESH Food that has not been altered by the plants being picky and choosey.

And, there is the Growth Spurt you will get during the Drain, as the roots get a 5 to 15 minutes air bath. It also gives you the opportunity to look for crimped air hoses, scrub the air stones clean and look for debris and trash in the tank that messes with the pH balance.
