First Time Grower: Mars Hydro SP3000, Gorilla Grow Tent, White Widow & Strawberry Cough

That’s much better than the one I got!
I don't know which one you have but this is a low end cheap homedepo part that worked for 2 weeks before the ph reader and the moister reader went down. lol

Ahhh... it’s one of products that sounds like a really good idea but is then so poorly executed. Mine’s also an el cheapo one from a local store and I’m not sure how much I trust it... Prefer the lift and observe method :yummy:

i think thats the green once, if im not mistaking. Almost simulare. You are right about el cheapo when the corprates start thinking of mass production.

Update Sept 2, 2020:
There is such amazing content on this site and I think I’ve been able to decipher what the issue is based on Nutrient Profiles and Deficiencies and the Pest and Problems Chapter of K of Trichomes’ book.

The problem started on Monday when I noticed she had a couple of yellow spots by the edge and then Tuesday morning it spread quite a bit and today it is now on another leaf.

Both leaves that are affected are original leaves, the plant is doing better than its two White Widow sisters, I have added very low doses of nutrients (Ocean Magic and Medi-One) and have being very cautious about watering with today being the first time I fully saturated them all with 6.3PH’d water.

I believe I have a Potassium Deficiency based mainly on the below quote:

My plan of attack is soluble potash:

So here we are; my first lesson in becoming a better grower; every problem is an opportunity for a solution and I am not afraid to do the research, consider a solution and then ask for help:yummy:

Would love to know if I am right in my diagnosis and solution And if you have ever encountered this and what measures you took to alleviate the issue.

Really appreciate you all contributing, participating and encouraging!

To end on a positive note, this Strawberry Cough is looking great!

I don't know. Is it possible it's just burns from water droplets? Seems very early for potassium. Another possibility is feeding too soon since your soil, I believe, already has nutes. The plant looks so healthy it can't be anything too serious but you don't want it to spread if it is. Let's see if @MrSauga can take a look?

I also thought it was water droplets at first but the way it developed it seemed to eliminate that. I think you are right with feeding too soon (even though low dose) the soil is quite rich and I probably jumped the gun.
The other plants all look very solid and I transplanted them last night two hours before their 6 hours of dark and they love their new homes!

Transplant went really well. Moved them over before lights out last night and woke up this morning to some lovely plants. Aside from the one plant, everyone looks great!

Think I will give them a day before topping them and getting the screen up!

Sept 8th, 2020 Update:

I decided to top the plants the day after transplanting them; it’s more nerve racking than it is difficult and we’ll see how the results turn out.

After topping them I went to the local hardware store and picked up some 3/4 inch pvc piping, eye hooks, carabiners and string to build a lattice to hang from the tent.

And today I tried to tie them down a little bit to open them up to more light:

A few more days and I’ll put the lattice in and start my first attempt at scrogging!

While working on the plants today I did notice that I have had a visit from an inch worm (or something like that) and from when I left this morning to when I got home he has had a little snack:

I’m keeping the tent at around 24Celsius with humidity fluctuating between 45-60. I did have an issue and I posted on a different thread and after being patient, considering the factors and asking for help I determined it was heat and light stress.

loving the process and love waking up, opening the tent and breathing in that beautiful smell.

hope everyone is having a great smoke wherever you are and thanks for reading along!

It looks like whatever the problem was, the plant with the yellow splotches seems to have recovered in the new growth and that's what matters! Things are looking good!

Gonna be a hot day today and tomorrow, tent doors wide open for me.

It’s been a month!
Not much to report since the topping update but I had one White Widow (Clarice) left in a 5x5; she is now in a 3 gallon pot and being trained.

I am interested in dry amendments like the Gaia Green brand (local to me) and decided to use this on Clarice since she hadn’t had any significant feedings yet and the soil test kit indicated depleted P&K. She has had 60ml of worm castings and 60ml of 4-4-4 mixed into the top layer and then watered till minor run off. This plant was intended to go elsewhere but that plan fell through so why not keep the same environment, modify the nutrition and check out the results!

Also, a local garden store is going out of business and a lot of their remaining stock was 50-70% off so I couldn’t pass this up. I picked up the All-purpose 4-4-4; Worm Castings 2-0-0; Mineralized Phosphate 0-9-0 and will find the bloom closer to when I need it. Curiosity can be an expensive habit!

I am training them every day and am amazed at their growth.

Sept 13, 2020- Watering Day With Medi-One and Ocean Magic- Moistened each plant with ph’d water before feeding and the two white widows drank a little less than a gallon each and the two strawberry coughs had a little more than a gallon each before runoff started to appear:

Previous watering was on Wednesday Sept 9 with just water- each drank approx 1 Gallon each.

I have to say one of my favourite tools so far is the water sprayer; it forces me to slowly water the girls and spend quality time with them... I also had to rename it the water pulverizer cause it just sounds cool

Happy Sunday everyone and hope you’re all having a nice little puff, wherever you may be.

Just stopping in to say hello. I'm running the same GGT tent and love the height for heat control. As someone else said, I don't think those spots on the leaves were K def. Looked more like mechanical damage or a burn from external chemicals. Your grow is looking good. I'm on my third grow if you want to check it out and see my setup. Keep up the good work!

I totally agree and am leaning more towards heat and light stress; I pushed the light longer than 18 hours one day so I could switch when my lights would go on and off again. It was really soon after the spots showed up!
I’m going to follow along with your grow and support a fellow 2x4 grower!
