Germinating Seeds

What is the best way to start my seeds ??? ive tried before but they didnt split

iam also about to do this so could do with some help .

i think theres 2 methods on is with wet towels and the other is to plant the seed about 1 inch below the surface of the soil.

I never double handle my seeds when germinating. I always use a commercial seed raising mix from my local garden nursery, plant them 1cm deep, cover for three days and they start popping.
It is important to know that seeds need darkness, moisture, and some warmth to germinate correctly.

moose when i plant my seed should i put it under my metal halide right away ? if so should it be close or far ? from the seed ?

I have my seedlings under the HID from the get go. At first the lamp is 3' over the seedlings, then I drop to 18" after a few days.

Whats the best way to do it in Hydro? I got some seeds from hempdepot and I was going to but them in rapid root plugs. 1/4 in in the rapids root and plce them in the holder cup and put hydroton granules abd place them in the Distilled water. Should I run the water with no nutrients? And place them in a warm dark place

Man I always spread them out in 5-6 layers of paper towel, fold the towel over the seeds, wet it with warm water, and leave it over the shower. In a couple of days, they are ready to go.

Of course out of about 10 bag seeds, I lose about 3 from the start.
