just after a little help, when running a cf extraction fan do i run this 24/7 or only when the lights are on?
Is this the same with normal fans ( circulation) as well?
I run the movement fans (desk fans/wall fans) 24/7.
I run my extraction fan on a thermostat to bring in fresh cold air from outside and control temps, which works out well in my climate. However you run it this vent fan should come on every so often during lights-on, to bring in fresh air.
I do not generally run my extraction fan at night. Again, it’s controlled by the thermostat, so without the lights to create warmth -it doesn't usually turn on. My HPS lights keep the room warm. If I was to run my vent fan during lights out my plants would get very cold.
No you should not need to run the extraction fan during lights off. It depends on your situation. There are a lot of variables here - inside temps, lighting setup, outside temps and RH, stealth concerns, etc.
Just like everything else there's not one answer. I have to run extraction over night or the humidity gets too high. I hold the house at ≈50%rh with no extraction it will run up over 70%.
