I used to like butterflies, I kill them now: am I too paranoid?

I used to adore butterflies, and pretty moths. I treat them like the aliens they are... trying to put their babies in my plants just so they can eat their way thru. I might have watched one too many Alien movies. Maybe I'm a little too paranoid, but they aren't welcome in my yard. They get the hose or smashed with my sandal if I'm close enough. Not quite the Buddhist approach, but I'm not Buddhist.

How sad. Now I feel like a dick. I guess I can stop murdering them, and just kill their offspring. Which is still kind of a dick move, but that's what they get for having eggs on my plants.
