Insane420 Goes Organic - 3rd Grow - AK48 & King's Kush!

Update - I have officially switched over to the bloom cycle after I took cuts from the Trainwreck mom for a future grow. I am going to keep the MH bulbs in for the first 2 weeks to try and eliminate massive stretching. I have found in the past this advice seems to work well. I am also going to bloom out the 6 experimental seedlings to see how they respond - the whole 12/12 from seed has me extremely curious thanks to Doc Bud and heres to hoping they don't hermie on me :bitingnails:. I am going to brew up some more EWC and BSM tea in the next day so I can give the plants a feeding to keep the microbial life well fed and happy.

Thats all for now.

In theory, those seeds should be feminized and worth hanging on to. I would hang on to them for sure and see if you can get a phenotype out of those seeds that suits your liking and doesn't hermie on you.

This is not true, you will have to breed the hermie traits out of the seeds. Just keep the females you get from seed ( kill males as pollen will be hermie). Then if you decide, you can pollinate the females and try to breed out the hermie traits... I am actually in the process of doing this as I had a hermie GDP pollinate a Sativa Chernobyl and a sweet tooth.. We are in the process of deciding which females to continue breeding with. Oh yeah, I was 10 out of 11 seeds that ended up female. Keep an eye on them too, some of the females may herm on ya.....

Wow Be that sounds pretty nuts so just cross those seeds I have with a male and hopefully those seeds will be all female? Sorry for the Hijack!

Nope, it will not give you fem'd seeds.... That would allow you to start breeding out the hermie traits. If you would have found a few seeds ( instead of 30) then I would have to agree that there was a 99% chance that they are Fem. Since there was 30 seeds, I have to go with a genetic hermie that pollinated your plant which means it is in it's genes.. The natural fem seeds come from a plant throwing a flower or two and pollinating itself as a last ditch effort to throw off offspring ( a seed for next season).
I stress my plants to try to trick them to throw me a fem seed or two. It doesn't always work but the 10 I have gotten have all been females.. 10 for 10......

Insane, the plants are looking beautiful... You are doing a great job.....:blunt:

Thanks for setting me straight on this one....this community is invaluable for just this reason.

Update - No pics today because the batteries are dead in my camera. I upgraded one of the lights to 1000watts today and hopefully in the next couple weeks I will switching out the other 600 watt as well. I am taking Totured Soul's advice about watt per square foot and trying to get this into a decent range. The 600 watt lights are nice, but the penetration is just not there and there was a lot of underdeveloped buds on the cheese grow. Hopefully, these changes will solve all of that.

Peace

Re: Insane420 Goes Organic - 3rd Grow - AK48 & GWS

Question to anyone following this journal....Has anyone had bad experiences with Attitude seeds? I have received crushed seeds, seeds that will not germinate, and now a supposedly feminized Rocklock freebie that is male. It seems it is either my bad luck or they are giving out suspect free seeds. I no longer have them remove my seeds from the breeders pack because out of all the freebies I have received, none have turned up viable to this date.....what gives ? :helpsmilie:

I have had pretty good luck with Attitude.... I have noticed over the years that it seems like the seed stocks are getting weaker.. My germ rates have slowly dropped, seeds are looking smaller, more premature seeds being sold. I think they are having problems keeping up with demand, the breeders are rushing things and I have noticed that lots of strains aren't stabilized.... It's a sure sign of things to come. The gene pools will be inbred and watered down.. Did you contact them and let them know what happened? Get those suckers replaced...

I will email them and see what comes of it, but I am not holding my breath. Anyways - Time for some pic updates. I had 1 GWS show signs of Mag deficiencies so I foliar fed some EWC/BSM tea I had been brewing and fed with RO Water with Epsom salt mixture. I will be keeping an eye on that one. The Rocklock Male has been terminated with extreme prejudice....It was a bit dissappointing since it was filling out so nicely. I changed out the MH bulbs to HPS as well. I also moved up a few of the "Blue Kush" hybrids onto a chair to get them closer to the light for the time being. The rest of the plants look great and I am hoping this batch does better than the last round.

Here is my DIY Tea Brewer - I originally was using air stones, but they get slimey and a pain to keep clean. I constructed it out of 1/2 pvc and 1/16 drill bit to make the air holes - no glue needed and it works great, easy to clean.
