People need to pay attention to not only the number of leds (100,150,etc) but also the type of lenses used (60 deg, 90, etc)
The platinum series is a mixture of 60 and 90. The trade off being square foot area vs penetration (the height part of cubic space)

You run into the same problem with hids, the intensity of the light is greater
(more or less directly under the hood) than it is a foot away from the edge of the hood.

True about the lenses. I've a twilight Spider 4 as well. Great light but the 360° lenses are horrible.
Need the 60's or 90's.

I was thinking about one the Platinum lights my area is 2.5 by 8 but will be using about 2.5 by 4 . I have grown a few times with very good results with hid/hps all this led light problems is making my head spin . I really want to buy one but do not want any problems with it . Does anyone know anything about the Black dog leds .

black dogs are way to expensive if you go on YouTube you can see side by sides comparing black dogs vs Mars hydro lights and to me there is not enough of a difference to justify the 3x the cost for the light. For your size space I would get 2 p300 Or a p600 and still have a lot of money left for other things you might need down the road

Depends if money is an issue. The p300 would work, the p450 would give you a tad better coverage and half again more in light intensity. I have a p300 over a auto flower about half way through and it is giving very good results so far. If you buy direct from Platinum with the 420 discount you can get a P450 for about 512.00 verses 350.00 for the P300. Both will work the P450 will give you better results.

I'm running the p450 in my tent 2.5' x2.5'x5' and it seems like the perfect coverage.

According to the Platinum website, 2 P300's give you an equivalent of 2 400w HPS so a total of 800w HPS equivalent. One P450 is 600w equivalent. Ignoring this and just looking at number of diodes, the P450 has 150 3w diodes and the P300 has 100 3w diodes so 2 P300's has 200 diodes versus 150 on a single P450.

Hope this makes sense. Only other thing I would think about is expansion. If you think you might add another light at some point might be better to buy the P450 now, use it as a single, then upgrade to another P450 later. Always a tradeoff between cost and output.

I purchased a second P300 a couple weeks back and re-arranged my cabinets. I put the Kind K3 L300 back in the Veg cabinet and put both the P300's in my 2'DX3'WX6'T Flower cabinet. Have lots of light on the ladies now!

I have 2 P300's and am pleased

I had 2 problems that were taken care of with out a hassle.

One was the mentioned problem of the screw in connector not working properly.

The problem is the retaining ring was missing from the inside back of that connector.
So when you push in the connector the whole thing moves back into the unit and you don't realize it and it is not connected.

I took it apart and pushed it together and I will leave it that way and won't take the cord off again. It has been working fine ever since.

30 days of 12/12 and I'm very happy with the bud growth.

This being said and since this is my first grow, is this bud growth average, above average or below average? I don't have any benchmark to compare it to so I'm counting on you guys and gals to chime in.

They look fantastic! If it truly is your first grow, resist the urge to do anything you could later on say "man I wish I wouldn't have done that" (nutrients, defoliation, etc..). Beautiful plants!!

Promix w/30-40% additional perlite, Botanicare Pure Blend Pro, feed them every 3 to 4 days.

Couldn't have done it without you guys and gals of the net, lots of great info and people...
