Male Or Female?

I am currently growing for my 1st time. Im about 3 1/2 weeks in and everyday im looking above the nodes for hairs or little buds.
Today i came home and noticed these growths above the nodes.. they dont look like male buds ive seen pictures of.. does anyone know what this is?
Is possibly just the start of the sex organ?

that's the beginning of the the thickening/elongating of that stem. This is normally most evident after topping, where you get these sudden bulges at the stem base as the plant redistributes its hormones, primarily auxin. Of course stems naturally grow larger without topping but it is gradual and normally does not show as extreme as this.
All in all, it is a good sign, but not indicative of sex at all.

How long have you been vegging for? Looks like you got a ways before pre-flowering when you can tell the sex.

They are 4 weeks old yesterday..
Have been in the vegging stage for about 2 weeks.

What you will look for is where the nodes are during pre-flowering. A male will start to show bulges looking like balls. While a female will have pistils. I'm sure there's a thread on here for how to determine sex during pre-flowering.

Yes i know what to look for, theres a good video of it on youtube. I just came home that day and saw these bulges and thought it was the start of a male plant.. so i posted on here asking if anyone knew.. people say 4-6 weeks and others say 6-8 weeks.. so im keeping my eyes open.

Update: Took a close look this morning and noticed a couple plants starting to show.. im still going to give them another week or so to show a bit better but it looks to me like one male and one female so far??

I agree. Female on the left and male on the right (maybe). Definitely need a couple more weeks though like you stated.

Update. They are slowly starting to show. Out of 7 plants i have two that have grown small white pistils that i know are female.. all 7 were planted within a few days of each other.

I am still unsure if i have any males. None of the plants have any pollen sacs that i can see..
