Starting a seed in a root plug

I started some seeds in some left over root plugs from cloning and now that one actually popped I realized that I dont know how long they should stay in the plug or how you transfer them lol do you just wait for roots to show and then just plant the whole thing in soil?

After having germination issue with Jiffy peat moss pucks and soil I switched to Rapid Rooters and have had much higher germination rates. Rapid Rooters seem to provide the seed with the perfect amount of air and moisture. I soak my seeds in pH adjusted water for 30-36 hours or until i see tap roots. I cut the Rapid Rooter mat into individual squares then I soak the Rapid Rooter squares in pH adjusted water for 15 minutes before use. then I the seeds into the Rapid Rooter square then place them underneath a light with 18/6 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness. I do not use a humidity dome. I hand water with a syringe each day to keep the Rapid Rooter square moist. when I see roots emerge from the Rapid Rooter square I transplant to 5" pots in a mixture of peat moss, perlite, vermiculite and mycorrhizae.

those jiffy things sucks sorry to say KJC
rooting plugs are the bomb lol
im using rapid rooters now but I was using a different one before they both work great
the rapid rooters seem more dense to me smaller looking holes the first one I was using looked more airy but was basically the same thing
they make em out of old trees and stuff both of em works great I wouldn't put my seeds in anything else

I went from the paper towel method to rockwool to Rapid Rooters.

Something Earth shattering will have to happen to get me to stop using Rapid Rooters. My germination rates are significantly better, and the seedlings seem to me to be much more aggressive in their root development.

And, yes, as soon as I see a taproot into 4x4's with Light Warrior and a bit of VermiFire they go, then into their permanent homes when root bound.

I still germ in a paper towel I just wait till theres a taproot of about 1/2-3/4 of an inch split the plug open
gingerly place the seedling in close it and throw a toothpick or 2 to hold it close
I put it about 1/8 below top and put a piece of plug over it then viola it comes out and the shell comes off
most of the time  ok it happened once so far so not too bad and I got it off lol
