Yes you are right amber tricomes are a sign on thc degrading. I harvest Sativa at 5 % amber and indica anything up to 50%. It's all down to personal preference more amber = couchlock and more milky = heady high!
Clear tricomes are in mature thc and 90% milky is at its strongest but like I said its all personal preference! I try and harvest all my girls Sativa or indica with NO clear or minimum and atleast some (5%) amber. I like my bud ripe and then some!
