Using a dehydrator for a test bud?

I want to test a bud from a plant that is days away from chop .
Will drying in a dehydrator seriously damage the potency ?
Anyone that has tried this , roughly how long does it take to dry enough to smoke ?
Any tips ?

Takes 12-24 hours, doesn't hurt THC but tastes like hay and harsh.

We’ve all tried it, and almost never had the results we wanted. So much happens in the slow dry/cure and fast dehydration isn’t really a good test. Are you just out of other weed to smoke or are you testing for a particular thing?

Yea I just want to smoke it for a test.
I am certainly not thinking to do it for all my plants.
