What do you fill your foot with?

What does everyone use in their feet pot in sip ? Do you add more perlite in the foot than the main potting soil keep it even or just perlite ?
my soil is hummus and leaks brown lol so I feel like perlite only would be best ? But I don’t wanna change from the working design eh if it ain’t broke

Didn’t knownif the soil would get too soggy in the water ? Where as perlite wouldn’t get soggy ?
do you put a mesh bag over the net pot at all ?

I use the designs I posted in the #SIP Club thread Here. Basically it's the mirror image with the reservoir void in the middle and surrounded (mostly) by soil.

Both designs seem to produce really nice plants.

I changed because it's a simpler build, and I seem to get better root development down low around the reservoir area. Not sure it matters much in final plant totals, though.
