i am trying to dry by freshly picked buds and i need to dry them secretly

i got myself a shoe box and lined it with kitchen towels, spread the buds out in the box then coverd them with kitchen towels and put the box in a dark and cool place.

would this be effective to dry them?

Not sure what exactly "secretly" is. You can dry them several ways that will prevent detection by odor. As Miwa said, you will need air-movement, a small hepa filter cartridge used for a vacuum cleaner or air cleaner (about $12 at the hardware store) rigged to the intake on a cardboard box with a small fan drawing air out the top of the box with a charcoal filter to scrub the odor (also in the hardware store). There are several DIY threads on how to do this. Do a search of the forums and you'll find a few that you can modify to fit your needs (to keep your spouse, room mate, parents, parole officer... from finding it).
