What strain? Pre98 Bubba Kush and New York City Sour Diesel
Is it indica, sativa, or hybrid? indica (pre98) and 60% sativa, 40% indica (nyc diesel)
How many plants? 4 pre98, 4 nyc diesel
Flowering for 5.5 weeks
Indoor grow in soil
mix is miracle grow (the type that advertises added soil aeration, comes with perlite and sticks n shit in it)
5 gallon pots (literally those 5 gallon orange buckets from home depot with holes drilled in the bottom
2 600 watt hps bulbs with reflectors
it is a grow ten inside a room with a window mounted AC unit, which we use to regulate temp. daytime temp is around 75 F while nighttime is around 65
RH is around 50 after a watering, but drops to as low as 20 when the plants require a watering
We water every 3-4 days
using the cyco line of bloom nutrients (dont have a ppm meter sorry) [sidenote: how useful are those things anyway?]
square footage of the room is 6x8 feet

My question is this: some of the leaves are yellowing and getting purple/red stems. After doing research to solve the problem, people said that some leaves that the plant naturally doesnt need will be shed and will fall off by themselves. This served to be true; however, more leaves became yellow after the others fell off. This is not an extremely alarming amount compared to some pictures I've seen, but the way I look at it, in the words of Doug Stanhope "How does their suck make my suck less suck?" I just want my first grow to go as well as possible. Thanks for any help.

Was this pic taken after a watering? The seem to have the just Watered look. I think overall they look good. If its only yellowing, its because those dense buds are sucing up the N. If brown splotches start, thats a sign oflow P nd I woud increase the bloom nutes then.

You dont want really green leaves at Harvest. That means she hd too many nutes an it takes longer to 'cure' that taste out of the smoke.

the first two were taken before watering, the rest were 1 light cycle after. thank fuck for no brown splotches, I would really be freaking if that happened haha. I know the leaves are supposed to yellow at the end of flowering, but these are both 10 week flowering time strains, so it seems a little far off for that to be happening, correct me if I'm wrong.

I dunno if you would have seen my last post cause i didnt reply to your specific post. Im new at this sorry hah

Hi B10l0gy :ciao:

Welcome to 420land :)

Your plants Look great, but they have too little Nitrogen.

Nitrogen is a mobile element and the plants are sucking it out of the larger, older fan leaves.

I think it's too long til harvest for this to be a good thing, but it's not so bad.

My advice would be to pee in a bucket and dilute it 10 times and water them with that.

That will provide a bioavailable form of Nitrogen (to stop leaf yellowing) and Potassium (for the purlple leaf-stems)

You cannot make yellow leaves green again, but extra Nitrogen will prevent more leaves turning yellow.

During a pee, a healthy adult will release 11g nitrogen/urea, 1g phosphorus/super-phosphate and 2.5g potassium.

Is this what it says on your nutrient bottles?
Guaranteed Analysis for Bloom Part A:
Total Nitrogen (N)...................................3%
3% Nitrate Nitrogen
Soluble Potash (K2O).............................. 2%
Calcium (Ca)........................................3%
Magnesium (Mg)................................0.6%

Derived From:
Potassium Nitrate, Calcium Nitrate
Magnesium EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic)

Guaranteed Analysis for Bloom Part B:
Total Nitrogen (N)...................................1%
1% Nitrate Nitrogen
Available Phosphate (P2O5)...................5%
Soluble Potash (K2O)..............................6%

Derived From:
Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Phosphate

Yes and no imo. Yes if you ar 5.5 weeks into a 10 week flowr that seems a little early.
But looking at all that frost I think they are closer to fnishing than that. Could you posibly get a photo of one cola kinda up close to see pistols? Trics pics wold be ideal if you have a loupe or magnifier.

If the first two pics were before watering, you may want to add oe more day between watering. BUT to be honest, I think they look really really nice so if you di everything just the same as you have ben, its gonna be a great haul!

It could just be that the flowers are growng sofast th plant cant process enough N t kee up. Not a bad problem to have. :)

Delightful! Im glad your bubba kush has the shiny leaf thing that mine is showing. )

With such a positive attitude, and obvious talent, we would love to see you start a grown journal o we can watch you finis these girls!

HOW TO START A GROW JOURNAL

Heres the honest Truth. That looks better than anything ive grown yet so Im gonna shut up now!!
4.5 more weeks of frost and swelling will be amazing.

If you wnt my opinion, yes, looking at just the pistols indicates you do have awhile!
While Id never advice peeing on your plants personally, LOTS OF TALENTED growers here do. And Rico is a very credible source. Im not against the method, I just get grossed out by pee.

This is over watering.. Yellowing and the leaves drooping down means that the plant is wet and sad. The leaves on a marijuana plant should be reaching for the light.. They should be firm and the points should be reaching, not droopy and depressed. Never water on a schedule. Learn to know when they need water by lifting the edge of the pot for weight. It becomes apparent that how light or heavy they are is a good gague. They are all unique and will need water at different times. Water when they are quite light. They are also very stretchy, even for sativa dominant..Check the distance between the canopy and light..You have a very successful first crop. These little things will get easier each time. You have been in bud stage for 5.5 weeks.. Go to water only and leach for the last 2 weeks.
