What spectrum rage bulbs are you using? I use T5's for about the first 3 weeks and then kick on the HPS lights. My tent is 4x8 and I use 2ea 600 watt HPS and 2ea 8-bulb T5's. First grow with that set up yielded just short of 2 pounds.

I have a 4x8ft tent that I started 20 plants and finished 12. The room was packed tight. I run two 600 watt and two 8-bulb T5's for a total of just under 2200 watts. My yield would likely have been higher with fewer plants. Had enough light but not enough space.

My last grow I had everything from 3 to 15. No relation to male/female.

Bad choice on the soil. Time release nutes in the soil are very hard on our plants. May be too strong for seedlings.

Re: Trim fan leaves at harvest??? I chopped and trimmed at the same time. Trying to do it on a dry plant is a pain. Also the trics on a dry plant are more fragile and can be knocked off during trim. Leaving the leaves on also increases your dry time.

Re: First timer's Plan, Solid??? Do some more reading here before you start spending money. All the information you seek is here and asked many times. You will have to use nutes or you plants won't produce. Time release nutes already in soil is very bad for MJ. CFL's are fine for growing...

Most of the top brands are the same. My advice would be to pick a brand and use only one brand until you get some experience. I just completed my first grow and chose Fox Farms soil and Fox Farms Nutes. I wanted to eliminate as many variables as possible. Next grow I may try another brand...

If you are worried look into using wonder board or Hardy-Backer. Both are cement based undlayment used in tiling. They come in 3x5 sheets at H-D or Lowe's. It will slow the spread of fire but not contain it. You cannot fireproof a room. Not physically possible. Even fire rated safes only...

Looks like low PH to me. Measure your runoff PH. Some soil is natorious for unstable PH levels.
