The van was confiscated on the A548 at Oakenholt, near Flint, last Friday. Police say it came from Merseyside. The van was seized under new powers enabling police to seize vehicles with no insurance. A further search revealed 90 packages of herbal cannabis concealed inside. No arrests have yet been made.
Inspector Alan Hughes, from North Wales Police's eastern traffic division, said: "This is one of the biggest seizures of drugs in transit made in north Wales and this success demonstrates that the routine checking of vehicles can uncover criminal activity.
"There is a definite link between vehicles with no insurance and criminal activity. "On this occasion we appear to have disrupted a fairly large drugs trafficking network. "We are not sure where these drugs were destined but I think it's fair to say they would have ended up on the streets."
