Am I doing this right? - First timer needs help

Hey guys, I'm just about to embark on my first grow. I'm going to be doing a top feed recirculating setup using a 600w MH /HPS in a 1.5×1.5×3.0m tent. After doing some more research, I'm not sure the system I am building will work? My idea was to save space by incorporating my pots into the lid of my reservoir. The way I have set it up, is so the submersible pump will pump the water up to the drip rings, whilst leaving the end of the feed tube open so the excess runs back into the reservoir. Will this actually work, with the plants draining directly back into the reservoir? Or am I stupid?!

It will probably work fine. I would add a valve on the end of your return line to regulate the drippers and add a timer to the pump to cycle it. You don't want to run it 24/7.
