Three armed men wearing masks broke into a house in Parkland early this morning where a man and woman lived and operated a medical marijuana grow operation.

The two were not hurt, according to Pierce County Sheriff spokesman Detective Ed Troyer.

The robbery was the third home invasion reported this week in Pierce County. The other two were in Tacoma - Monday night and again early Wednesday morning. Authorities have no idea if they are connected in any way.

Troyer said the three men who were wearing bandannas over their faces kicked in the front door of the residence located in the 1400 block of Violet Meadows Street South about 12:50 a.m.

Troyer said the invaders were looking for money and a safe. Not finding anything, they left after they trimmed and clipped buds off some of the 51 marijuana plants growing inside the residence.

The trio was described as two black men and one white man, all about 25 years of age. They were described as between 5 foot 8 inches and 6 feet tall.

Troyer said deupties confiscated all but 15 of the marijuana plants. He said 15 plants are the maximum allowed by the state Department of Health to be grown at one time for medical use.

The states define the legal 60 day supply limit allowed for medical marijana growers as up to 15 plants and 24 ounces of dried medicine.

The growers - a 32 year old man and a 22 year of woman - showed deputies authorization to grow marijuana for medical use, Troyer said.

The robbery is under investigation.
