Texas — Authorities have seized nearly 2,500 pounds of marijuana worth about $2.4 million found in a commercial truck at the Mexican border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said the discovery on New Year's Eve came after a truck hauling wire was held for a secondary inspection. Authorities found 102 packages of marijuana totaling 2,494 pounds hidden in the wire shipment.

The truck was driven by a 36-year-old man from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He was handed over to immigration officials for further investigation.
