Branch fell over, not sure why - any opinions?

Everything was fine until I left for a few days, then found that a branch had been leaned over. It looked like an animal climbed up it and made it fall down, but I dont know. Its confusing because its not that top heavy.

Here is my baby before the branch fell

And here are the shots of the branch

Since it was pretty much cracked at the joint - the decision was made to remove the branch. How much will this effect things?

Any opinions?

Yep, if you can catch it in time, a broken branch from the main stem, taped securely back at the wound, will bounce back and be just fine. Whenever I top or get something like this that leaves an open wound in the plant, I dab a bit of roofing cement over the wound. This will keep it free from pathogens or even insects, that can invade the plant easily. This lost branch won't hurt at all.
