Bud color... Optional.

Hey, I thought I remember reading somewhere that you can determine the color of your plants buds by adding certain things to the soil or fert. Anyone know more about this? I would love to grow some fat pruple buds.

I don't know about that...
I always though it had to do entirely with genetics, but I may be wrong... (Not a grower...).

Yes you can determine the color of the bud, based on how good it is (shades of green), you just have to take very very very extra special care of your plant, and give it lots of love try putting a radio next to it and turn it on 24/7, i read on this site that it will help your plant feel better.

no there is not really put any thing in the soil to change the color. but low temperatures at night will make the plant purple.

The colour of a plant or the tendancy to turn purple in low temps is dependant on the genetics of a plant. If you have being watching the unfolding blackberry threads plastered over most canna forums you would see the that the colour ( mostly purple ) is dependant on the genetics not the way you grow your plant.
