Building my first light rig, looking for some recommendations and thoughts

Not sure what a HLG 600 is, but for 5x5 you want at least 6 QB288 (or another way of getting +1800 diodes)

A single board is fine for vegging a 2x2,5 area, the 135w kit is just that, you'd just end up dimming that 260w kit all the time ;)

If you can get 2700K for flowering, and 4000K for veg, really anything will veg fine but 4000K has a nice balanced spectrum, where 2700K is quite red and 5000K is quite blue.

Thats the link. not sure if I can post it here. but heres the light info also, it's basically the HLG 550's big brother, but it's not UL so its much cheaper.

also I can get it in 2700k. I can also mix 2700 and 3000. light has 4 panels, I'm assuming for proper coverage of 25 sq I would need 2 1000 HPS, I'll need 2 of these lights as well.

5x5, Id go

9pc luminus22 COBS, 2 chiled boards, about 650 watts,

3x3 veg, id go

4pc luminus22 cobs, 1 chilled, lol

Not sold on QBs yet, *shruggs
I'm torn on QBs of cobs. I want to do both honestly but wife was hard enough to let me grab a 5x5. plus it is my first run so i figure the boards will be more forgiving and are cheaper. I can get 2 HLG600 for $1300

Ahhh OK that one from growerslights.

I think 8 boards that close to each other would be to tight for 5x5, 6 boards spread out is a better way to light it, and can be a lot cheaper to do.

Getting 6x 288 boards and 6x heatsink from HLG/amazon, and 3x Meanwell HLG240H-C1400A drivers from mouser will set you back like $800.
6x 135w V2 kits are $1.125
