SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Candidates for Illinois governor cover a wide spectrum of opinions on allowing marijuana use for medical purposes.

Green Party candidate Rich Whitney backs general legalization of marijuana. He says he'd sign a bill to legalize medical marijuana as "a positive first step."

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Republican Sen. Bill Brady, who opposes any easing of rules on marijuana.

To Republican Sen. Kirk Dillard, enforcement is the key. He opposes medical marijuana, saying authorities are concerned about how they will police the law.

Andy McKenna, former Illinois Republican Party chairman, said he would have opposed legislation that legalizes medical marijuana.

DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom opposes the idea because of what he cites as a lack of research.

Republicans, Defenders of the people.

With minds like this playing on the commun ignorance and fear to get elected to office how can change come? Another sad day for Illinois.

Looks like a misprint.
I think what he meant to say was, "I know that there has been a lot of research done on cannabis, but the conclusions of the research don't match my feelings on it, so I will just ignore them and continue to support the polices that continue to ruin peoples lives and spend billions of hard earned tax payers dollars.
And if you vote for me you can be sure that I will use my position to accumulate as much money and as many favors as possible so that when I am done, little will have been done for the people, but a lot will have been done for me.
