El Dorado County charges against a Chico man who was found with more than 100 pounds of marijuana near Tahoma have been dropped, according to court documents.
Robert Daniels, 62, was arrested after California Highway Patrol officers found 103 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in October.
The stop led to the search of Chico residence where South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team members seized an additional 295 pounds of marijuana and 162 marijuana plants, according to SLEDNET.
In a March 17 letter, Assistant District Attorney Hans Uthe asked El Dorado County Superior Court Judge James Wagoner to dismiss charges of possession of marijuana for sales and transportation of marijuana against Daniels, who has also been referred to as Robert Stafford in court documents.
"The defendant is one of a number of defendants in a related Butte County action and we have determined to allow him to join that action at this time," Uthe said in the letter. "Our current intention is to re-file once the Butte County matter is adjudicated, although we would be open to allowing the Butte County District Attorney to include our matter in any settlement negotiations which may occur with regard to their case."
Daniels is charged with felony counts of cultivating and possessing marijuana for sale in Butte County, according to Butte County Superior Court records.
An attorney representing Daniels could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Attorney Tony Serra has argued in court documents that Daniels was in compliance with California's medical marijuana laws at the time of his arrest.
