METRO VANCOUVER- Delta police seized roughly 50 pounds of marijuana from a Surrey man caught speeding in a pickup truck on Kittson Parkway in North Delta on Wednesday afternoon.
Sgt. Sharlene Brooks said a traffic cop stopped the truck in the 10900-block of Kittson Parkway at about 2:30 p.m. because it had gone over the posted speed limit.
She said the constable smelled pot when he approached the truck and called in a police dog to investigate. About $100,000 worth of the drug was found in the pickup's box, underneath a tonneau cover.
The 30-year-old driver faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance. His name has not yet been released.
