Drying: decarb question

Hello everyone, harvested my first crop and I hope to make a CBD type oil out of it using a magical butter machine. Question I have is can I go right to decarbing the crop or should I dry it first? Or do both?

Thanks

It can be done both ways but the undried bud becomes what is known as fresh harvest... but yes the large majority are drying it first before processing further. In recipes I would always assume dried plant material unless the recipe calls for untried or fresh harvest. The moisture inside the bud can cause stuff to overflow or cook unevenly any number of problems

but yes start with dried bud and it will have to be decarbed at some point when making oil or butter.
