Cottageville Mayor Bert Reeves has resigned after news became public that he had a byproduct of a marijuana chemical in his system when his truck crashed last summer.
Reeves was originally charged with driving under the influence in the July 30th crash.
But that charge was dropped after a blood alcohol test was negative.
An October lab report showed Reeves tested positive for a byproduct created when the body breaks down T-H-C, the mind-altering chemical in marijuana.
The Highway Patrol says there was --not-- enough evidence to prosecute Reeves on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs.
