I'm using the 6 month bag of miracle grow and I've read that it needs Epsom salt if I choose that soil. Can I just mix the Epsom salt with the soil or do I have to mix it a certain way ?

You could mix it in the soil. I am not sure on how much per gallon though. You could also mix 1 tsp. in 1 gallon of water and give them a drink. I use FFOF which has magnesium in it already. I still put 1 tsp. in 3 gallons of it, watered it, mixed it around, placed a fan pointing at the top of the soil (to dry the top of the soil) and prevent mold from building up. For the first time I also added about 3 TBS of garden lime to 3 gallons of soil. My soil always seems to get acidic so I am trying to see if this helps.
You could look up the recipe for "super soil" mix. There may be a couple of different recipes but they will give you an idea about how much to use.
