N.C. – Federal authorities say an investigation has uncovered more than 3,000 pounds of marijuana at a Charlotte home.

Five people have been charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Prosecutors say more than $2 million was seized at one Charlotte home while marijuana was found stashed at another.

The defendants each face a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $4 million fine if convicted on the conspiracy count. Some of the suspects also have been charged with possession of guns.

Authorities say three of the people charged are Mexican citizens in the United States illegally. None of the defendants have listed attorneys. They are scheduled in court next week.
