Fimming after transplanting

Is there a significant wait period between transplanting to larger pots and fimming for the first time? 2nd grow, plan to do SCROG and want to maximize bud sites. 2 different strains in 5 gallon fabric pots using fox farms nutes. Any advise greatly appreciated...

Usually growers are encouraged to wait till about 4 to 5 nodes of growth before starting to whack off the top as the beginning of training. Not so much the time after transplanting as waiting till there is a decent amount of growth that will be left to support the plant.

I have seen some nice looking SCRoG grows where the plant was topped and then trained and top cut off again and more training. Then, a week or so before the change in lighting the growing tips were "fimmed". The growers used more than one method to get the canopy where they wanted it. Also, there are some good explanations from growers who have concentrated on just the 'fimming' aspect of training.

Do not know if you have seen this but if not the link might give some ideas of how to plan out the topping, training and 'fimming'. It is from Royal Queen Seeds, one of the sponsors.
