Unless you have an auto flowering plant, flowering is triggered by 12 or more hours of darkness each night. Here is a great link with tons of info for a new grower. How to Grow Marijuana Everything You Need to Know
given you dont have an auto, it goes as follows
veg time- this is anywhere from about 3 weeks, to 7(generic number) years.
most seeds are ready to flower after 3 weeks from breaking the soil, but its ultimately up to you when you induce flower.... but for the sake of keeping it simple, lets say you want to go from start to finish quickly.
so we are at 3 weeks.
now... most strains fall between 8-10 weeks flower time, with some reaching up to 14.
so if you have an 8 week strain, you are at about 11 weeks now.
so roughly 3 months will be your quickest seed to harvest properly.
this all changes if you 12/12 from seed, you MIGHT be able to knock off a week or maybe even 2.
and if you grow an auto, i think the fastest auto i have seen is 60 days... so.. 8-9 weeks.
lastly you can do clones in a SOG enviroment. which would be about...
1-2 weeks for the clone to root and get growing, and 8ish weeks to flower. so 9-10 weeks.
keep in mind , all of these options wont yeild you much for each plant. its the bare minimums. (of course in a SOG, thats the whole point... a whole bunch of little fast plants)
