Help please! 4 days after sprouting

Good day folks!

Need help on my new plant. I planted this seed "Blue Dream" 4 days ago and this is how it looks.

The medium is coco peat with 20% perlite. I also watered (Distilled water) and drained the coco 24 hours before planting the seed. It is under a 200w Top Led reflector series lighting. The edges of the primary leaf is turning a little brownish and the first leaves are also turning brownish on its tips.

What is wrong with my plant? Can someone suggest what to do next? I'm afraid to over water it also :(

Newbie in the house!!!!!!!

Hi!

No the growing medium is not fertilized. I will try to get a dome or plastic cover. The light distance is 1 ft. Thank you for the reply man! :D

Re: Help please! 4 days after sprouting.

That looks like poor medium to me. I would not use pure coir and perlite, the pH and salts can be deadly to seedlings. Try a good organic potting soil, with NO added fertilizer. I used Black Gold Natural and Organic last spring. Works like a charm. Avoid domes, they provide the perfect climate for fungus growth, and are uneccessary.

Thanks for the info spark! Hope it recovers though.

Re: Help please! 4 days after sprouting.

light is too close for the baby
start at 2 feet or so maybe a little higher like 2.5
i use a few cfl to get started
once she is a bit bigger and can handle it
i put her under the led

Coco looks pretty dry and the light needs raised up, does your light have veg and bloom switches. If you let coco dry the ph fluctuates to much

Yea my light has a veg and bloom switch on it. But i just use the veg. I also raised the light 2.5 feet. My coco is drying very quick! Does that mean I can water when the tops of the coco become dry?

some dry time is ok
the roots will stretch to look for moisture
yes once dry down about a few cm or about an inch it is about time to water
do not keep it drenched as you can get what is called dampening
dampening is sort of a rotting where the stem meets the medium
it may not be much of a worry with coir since it drains so well
but still be mindful
once the main stem gets a bit stronger it is safer
you have to learn your plant and how it likes the environment you created

as for the light you may have to adjust several times til you see it is reacting properly
look for severe stretching that will tell you to move it a bit closer
its a long strange trip
research and reading is great but experience is the great teacher
take care and good luck
