Hi Folks, I’ve never seen this before. The top bud of the branch has turned brown and pretty crispy. He plant is an L.A. Confidential that is 5 weeks into flower. This happened quickly as the plant looked fine 2 days ago. Used my loupe to check for critters as we have had spider mites In the past. Could find nothing and no webbing. Any help, please. hedz

That may be a rust fungus. Google Rust Fungus and read up. Hardware stores have a spray for it but it's hard to eradicate so I hope it's not rust.

Short term 3 regular aspirin in 350ml of water dissolved. Spray after lights out and let it set. Commercial spray is better.

Rake the tent/ground and dispose of leaves. Clip and dispose affected leaves.

Thanks, I‘ll start reading and will follow your advice. Namaste. hedz

I read that it might be caused by a Nitrogen deficiency and dry environment. Just trying to help, also want to post so I can get a notification on updates. Cheers Good Luck.

Wouldn't nitrogen def show yellowing? Not trying to be a doubter, still have stuff to learn.

I am not sure about that, Just did about half an hours reading and that is all I could find, dont take my word on it, I know that lots of poeple cut down on it in the flowering stages so make a bit of sense in my mind. You will def have to sherlock this one. Cheers

I think the diagnosis is correct, judging by the images I found on Google for rust fungus but like you, I am here to learn, I am def not a specialist by any means.

I recently had rust, cost me $12 for spray and $89 for a UV light used to sterilize and remove odors. Was misdiagnosed as Cal/mag a lot. Clean the tents with 3 tsp bleach per spray bottle after every grow.

On the upside the UV light will kill a dog fart in mid air...

I used Vinegar to clean mine after my first grow, my tent still looked new, was going to pass on it then thought the better of it, I can see that javex might have been better.

Hey everyone, just tossed 8 plants in the garbage. Upon closer examination, the trichomes on all the plants that i threw out were completely gone. No point in trying to save any plant that ‘s 5 weeks into flower with 0 trichomes (there were lots of trichomes a few days ago - all gone). We gently removed the plants from the grow area, cut them down and out in the trash. The remaining plants ( 5 French Cookies, 3 Gorilla Breath) still look fine, will monitor closely. Sorry, I never took any photos of the missing tric’s - I was so pissed off, I forgot. Here’s a couple pics of the remaining plants. Note the discolouration on the leaves. That branch may have to go also.

You got to do, what you got to do. Well you are not left with nothing, those other plants look great. Wonder what could cause something like that. I will remember the look of that plant forever! Thanks for the info. Better days ahead.

FYI - the plants that were destroyed were a mix of LA Confidential (4), Cheese (3), Gorilla Breath (1). Thanks for your support. Namaste - hedz
