I personally use distilled.

so I have read that distilled water is the best. I am making my own distilled water for about 9 cents a liter or quart for Americans. Are you finding that it seems to be paying off? I notice a marked improvement in growth

I use water from an RO. It's not quite as pure as distilled water as I don't run it through the de-ionization stage. This works well for me, and is much more cost effective than distilled water.

Hell I don’t even do that. My PPMs are like 10 and my pH is like 9.1. I just drop it down to 6.3 and water away. I also have big buckets to collect rainwater and that works with nothing in it (but decaying leaves).

I can't say for sure. I'm currently on my first grow.

I haven't tried other kinds of water yet to be able to compare.
