Insecticide soap hurts this fast?

i saw a red spider mite yesterday so i went and got the safe spray soap at lowe’s. I turned the lights off for a couple hours after drenching - i noticed two parts of lower leaf dry and withering now i see an upper leaf curling from the sides. i have turned lights off today using only south facing window to light room. was i supposed to wash off soap after application?
Or could it be the new (very dry) salamander fox farm soil i repotted in last week but didn’t get moisture wet enough until three days ago?
my cfl are 2@40 watt 7-9 inches above top and a fan is blowing
thanks

Do you mean Safer Brand? If so, when I was bringing other people's clones into the house, I routinely soaked the living daylights out of them with it. First thing I did was take them into the shower for a good all-over water blasting (after removing them from their containers - I'd hit them good), since you can easily knock spider mites off with a water spray. Then I'd drench the clones - greenery and root zone.

As you can probably imagine, they looked rather disheveled afterwards. All but a couple survived, and those probably would have died anyway. I didn't stick them directly under a 1kW HID afterwards, lol, but other than that I just treated them like plants.

Yours will probably be fine. Keep calm and carry on. . . .

all right i lied. the sunshine looked so welcoming i took them outside.i poured purified water in it to counter any dehydration (that damned fox farm is serious soil that feels dry) she sure is pretty. Both plants are same age but some dummy let a cut worm get loose and topped her when she was 2.5 weeks old. She may be a little bushy momma if she grows up.
thanks for the positivity as you know, us nubes fret easily on any changes.

i took them outside.

You'll soon have more experience fighting the Borg (spider mites), then  . When I could still see halfway decently, I could walk out on the sidewalk, squat down, and watch legions of the little buggers crawl around. I never really paid much attention them before I started growing cannabis indoors. Now I'm a bit... paranoid.

ok so when i moved them outside i decided to extra water due to the florida heat.
that night the leaves turned in the classic way for over watering. I swear that fox farm is deceptive soil!! my new Sonikr meter received today reads 80% high moisture -
can i leave under the lights and hope it will dry out? My Ph is also reading 7.5 -
i cannot add water/vinegar because my moisture is too high.
thanks

feminized grand daddy purple - 6.5 weeks and 2 days after repot it oooks like colas are forming instead of nodes. Maybe my FIM at 4.5 weeks was perfect ?
My soil is reading 7 and if the plant is thriving then i shouldn’t worry about bringing it down? If i feed in a high acidic solution after adjusting the ph to 3-4 will the plant refuse it if it likes 7 ph now?
