A Davenport man has been imprisoned after pleading guilty to selling marijuana and lying about it in front of a jury.
Investigators say for almost two years, 23-year-old Harrison Sean Summers from Davenport worked with co-defendant Jared Fromknecht to sell marijuana to others, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Nicholas Klinefeldt.
From May of 2011 to March of 2013, Fromknecht had been shipping marijuana through the mail to Summers from Colorado to Iowa, the statement said.
"As part of this agreement, Summers paid Fromknecht for marijuana received by depositing drug proceeds in a bank account," read Klinefeldt's statement.
When he was sentenced Friday, January 16, 2015, Summers admitted to selling more than 88 pounds of marijuana, Klinefeldt said. Summers pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
That day, Summers also pleaded guilty to previously providing false statements to a federal grand jury. Klinefeldt's statement said that in March of 2013, Summers falsely testified under oath saying that he had not received marijuana from Fromknecht.
Summers was sentenced to serve two concurrent 30 month prison terms. According to the statement, after he is released Summers will serve two years of supervised release and pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund.
