Albemarle County, Va - Hundreds of activists from all over Virginia are on their way to the U.S. Capitol to advocate for cannabis liberation.

The Jefferson Area National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws is taking part in the reform of marijuana law's 2016 Congressional Lobby day.

Monday, the group will attend a national conference leading up to Tuesday meetings with area legislators. Supporters will talk with members of the House and Senate about the importance of ending the federal prohibition on marijuana.

"I'm speaking for many people. Eighty-six percent of Virginian's are in support for medical purposes, which is a very large number. Not all of those voices can be heard Tuesday. So, I will be representing a large portion of Virginia," Jes Vegas of NORML said.

NORML says that ending cannabis prohibition would stimulate the economy and ultimately save lives.
