Members of the Manila Police District seized 15 kilos of dried marijuana leaves from a 28-year-old suspected notorious drug peddler whom they arrested in a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City.

Suspect Alex Segundo, a native of San Gabriel, La Union, was allegedly responsible for the proliferation of drugs, including marijuana, in Manila, Caloocan City, Quezon City and some part of southern Metro Manila, according to the police.

The suspect was arrested during an entrapment Wednesday afternoon, said MPD acting chief Senior Superintendent Danilo Abarzosa, who presented the suspect to Mayor Lito Atienza at City Hall Thursday morning.

Abarzosa said the suspect had been under surveillance for about a month. On Wednesday, authorities decided to put an end to the suspect’s nefarious trade by conducting a drug operation against him.

At about 5 p.m., an undercover agent met Segundo at the back of Ever Gotesco Grand Central Shopping Mall near Edsa in Caloocan City and ordered marijuana from him, Abarzosa said.

Police pounced on the suspect as soon as he took the marked money from the poseur-buyer.

Seized from Segundo were several bricks of dried marijuana leaves weighing about 15 kilos with an estimated value of P40,000 to P50,000.

The suspect, who was detained at the MPD headquarters, will be charged for violating RA 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
