CO - Two community activists are delivering listeners news and information about the medical marijuana world live and online through GreeneRadio.

Nature’s Medicine owners Drew McNeil, 35, and Richard Present, 38, broadcast live video streams and music from their downtown medical marijuana dispensary.

“We’re doing environmental news, we’re doing green politics, we’re doing cannabis issues, court issues,” Present said. “We’re talking about real subjects and trying to educate people on what’s going on in the marijuana world.”

Music also is played on the Internet radio station 24 hours a day, seven days a week at GreeneRadio.org.

The live broadcast happens at 4:20 p.m. three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

On Friday, McNeil and Present planned to talk about House Bill 1284, which lawmakers discussed for eight hours the day before at the Capitol.

The bill has the potential to impose new regulatory rules on the medical marijuana industry.

“There are some good things in there that we like,” McNeil said of the proposed legislation. “Even as dispensary owners, we like some of the rules and regulations that have gone into that. But there is a lot of unclear mumbo jumbo that’s written into these laws.”

When not discussing news issues, the duo also has entertainers perform live at the studio, and guests like Dr. Robert Melamede, also known as Dr. Bob, from Cannabis Science; and Brian Vicente, executive director of Sensible Colorado.

One recent topic for discussion was the theory that marijuana is safer than alcohol, McNeil said.

“The Rich and Drew Show” also includes skits with a Saturday Night Live feel.
“We want to kind of educate people, yet we want to be funny too,” Present said, “so it keeps them (listeners) around.”

McNeil said medical marijuana patients might not get such educational entertainment anywhere else.

“There’s nobody out there giving any information on the other side of things,” McNeil said. “(Media) only looks at the side which law enforcement is giving them.”
